This Week's Q&A: "Cooked" Quinoa, Doubling Sauces, Being Minimalist with Kids, Work Discrimination, & Carbs Posted by:Lindsay S. Nixon Category: FAQ

You've got questions...

Q: I have a question about the Hippie Loaf. Is it 1 cup of dry quinoa cooked, or do you cook enough quinoa to produce 1 cup?

A: Measure out already cooked quinoa. I can't speak for everyone's recipes, but with mine (and this is generally true with most published cookbooks and recipes in magazines, etc.), if it indicates "cooked" (i.e., 1 cup cooked rice), it means you measure out 1 cup of already cooked rice. …

To Freeze or Not to Freeze? HH Recipes That Freeze Well (or not so much) Posted by:Lindsay S. Nixon Category: Advice FAQ

You've got questions...

Q: What kind of bread do you suggest when done with the reboot?

A: See my post, Looking for Plant-Based (Vegan) Bread.

To summarize quickly: Look for breads that are 1. vegan (no milk, eggs, whey, butter, or other animal products), 2. 100% whole-wheat, and 3. do not contain oil. Also try to find breads that do not have a sweetener (i.e. honey or sugar), have less than 5 ingredients, and buy sprouted if …
