I'm leaving today for my month long trip around Europe (I'm actually getting to meet some Int'l Herbies too!). Before I left, Mama Shay (my mom!) sent me some words of wisdom that I'd like to share with you.
"There's a place I travel when I want to roam, and nobody knows it but me. The roads don't go there and the signs stay home and nobody knows it but me. It's far, far away and way afar, it's over the moon and sea and wherever you're going that's wherever you are. And nobody knows it but me.
The things that move us are the things that reflect what we already believe. That one equals many. That an individual is part of a greater whole. That together we can do great things. That each of us in some way wishes to be part of something bigger, something grander, than simply ourselves. We believe that things have soul, because someone has put it there. Woven it in, stitched it on, taken a piece of themselves and attached it somehow somewhere.
We are connected to each other, to ourselves, through our sense of touch. Our sense of feeling. We touch something and it reminds us of something else. We hold something and we like the way it feels, how it makes us feel, how it captures a mood, a memory, a chance. And every time the sensation comes over us we learn what we've always known: We feel so we know. We know so we can find. We find so we can have."
