It really does solve the dilemma of what you can make/bring to holiday gatherings when you're a vegan. While a lot of vegan cookbooks do have great recipes that work well for holiday gatherings, it's nice to have so many recipes in one place — and to especially have easy access to traditional holiday fare like pumpkin pie, cheesecake, sweet potato casseroles, and various dips.
Another great cookbook by the Happy Herbivore. I love this book. While, yes, there are repeats, Lindsay's purpose in the book (at least from my perspective) is to gather (pun intended) all those awesome recipes in one book and organize by holiday. It is a perfect concept. The book is beautifully written with lovely pictures of Lindsay and her family. This book fits wonderfully with my collection of HH Cookbooks. Whether you have her other books, or not, this is a must to add to your collection healthy, plant-based holiday and special occasion recipes. Thanks HH!
Another fabulous plant based cookbook by Lindsay Nixon. I have all of her cookbooks and would highly recommend them all. This book especially nice since cooking plant based at holidays can be somewhat overwhelming. Lindsay offers recipes that are easy to make, healthy and from ingredients which are readily available in most supermarkets. You just can't go wrong if you are looking for some help with holiday recipes that are focused on plant foods.
An excellent book if you are ok with no meat, no dairy and no oil and you want ideas on how to apply this way of cooking to any holiday or special event. Works especially well if you use the "Full Index"
For us the cost of her books has been well worth it. The thing I like most about "Happy Herbivore Holidays & Gatherings: Easy Plant-Based Recipes for Your Healthiest Celebrations and Special Occasions" is she shows you how to do holidays and special occasions. If you are new to this way of cooking like we are, it takes all the stress and guesswork out of preparing for a holiday or special event. Yes, I agree that there are repeat recipes from her other books. If you do have her other books the appendix is great as it references recipes from the other books for special occasions. One thing I do is use the "Full Index" at the back of the book to search for a specific recipe or food category. I was looking for homemade ketchup and found on the same page (79) a recipe for a plant-based healthy version of McDonald's famous special sauce. By looking for a recipe in the "Full Index" you are able to go to the page in the book and see it in context to an occasion. By seeing the recipe in context to the occasion you are able to get other ideas and see other options.
