Over the next couple of days I’m going to share with you everything I’ve learned about sugar addiction, the drug-like effect sugar has on your brain, and how you can unhook yourself without going mad (or relapsing hard). This isn’t the usual “go cold turkey” BS you’ve heard before. I’ve uncovered some seriously cool science-based hacks that stop the sugar hijacking that happens in your brain.
RECLAIM THAT NEUROCHEMISTRY! IT’S YOURS!
There’s going to be some geeking out with science (always!), a free PDF, a wacky contest, and actionable things you can do immediately if you want sweet freedom.
If you don’t want to miss any of it (everything will NOT be on this blog) sign-up for my newsletter. (It’s free).
First, let’s find out if this applies to you:
Are You Addicted to Sugar? (Free Quiz)
Once you start eating sweets, is it hard to stop?
Do you find yourself thinking about cookies, chocolate, etc?
Does your mood or energy rise after you eat (but then slump)?
Are you rewarding yourself with treats because you “deserve” it?
Do you feel an uncontrollable craving for something sweet?
If you answered 'yes' to any of these questions, you probably have a sugar addiction.
AND YOU’RE NOT ALONE!
Your brain sees sugar as a reward – it physically causes opioid production, which triggers dopamine (the neurotransmitter responsible for PLEASURE) making you want it more…
Your brain on sugar:
Recent studies suggest that sugar is more addictive than cocaine and heroin!
and SUGAR IS IN everything.
Sugar hides in foods where you least expect it INCLUDING non-sweets like pasta sauce, salad dressings, whole grain breads, crackers, granola, canned veggies, dried fruit, and condiments like ketchup, mustard, and hot sauce.
You’re constantly getting a hit without knowing it!
Food manufacturers have hooked us with steady streams of hyper-processed, highly palatable, and *intensely* addictive foods.
Foods with added sugar also trigger a special region in the brain (the nucleus accumbens) — that is ground zero for all conventional addictions such as gambling and drug abuse.
You’re not weak, you’re addicted, and food manufacturers are your enablers.
In tomorrow’s email (and blog post) I’m going to geek out about brain science, explain how all this crazy hijacking happens, and how you can break the cycle in a tolerable way.
The only path away from physical addiction is sobriety. You already know this.
You know that you’ve got to quit the sweet stuff to break the cycle… unfortunately, going “cold turkey” is so miserable most people can’t hack it. That’s where I (and my truckload of research) come in :)
I’ve formulated a simple protocol that helps you arrest sugar cravings, softens withdrawal symptoms, and helps stabilize your mood and energy as you unhook yourself from sugar.
I can’t wait to bring you into sweet freedom!
Don’t forget to join the newsletter (it’s free). I’m sending a PDF in a few hours (you don’t want to miss it!) AND there’s a contest going on right now with prizes. Don’t miss out! Get in the loop :)
