These 5 recipes are surprisingly easy ways to add some protein, calcium and minerals to your snacks and meals – without sacrificing flavor and variety. Taste the smooth sweetness of our tofu yogurt and ice cream on their own or with some fresh fruit. Try our “fish” filet for a salty ocean treat, and don’t forget our tofu buffalo wings for the game -- with tofu “ranch” dip to complement the kick!
5 different flavors -- and 5 new ways to use tofu!
1. Tofu Yogurt
Ingredients:
10 oz. silken tofu
1 whole banana, cold
2 tbsp non-dairy milk
2 tbsp lemon juice
2 tbsp pure maple syrup (or agave)
Directions:
- Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
- Taste and add more sweetener if desired.
- Top with fresh fruit and serve.
2. Tofu Ice Cream
Ingredients:
12 oz. lite mori-nu tofu, extra firm
1 cup non-dairy milk
3 tbsp pure maple syrup
Directions:
- Combine all ingredients in blender and blend until smooth
- Add mixture to ice cream machine and and run until ice cream has formed, about 30 minutes.
- Serve immediately.
3. Tofu “Fish” Filet
Ingredients:
12 oz. super protein tofu
2 whole wheat bread slices
1 tbsp kelp
½ tsp onion powder
½ tsp garlic powder
¼ tsp Old Bay seasoning
½ cup non-dairy milk
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Cut tofu into 5 slices and set aside.
- In a food processor, blend bread until crumbs form.
- Add spices to processor and pulse until combined.
- Transfer bread mixture to a bowl.
- Dip tofu in nondairy milk and press both sides into breadcrumb mixture until evenly coated.
- Bake 25-30 minutes.
4. Buffalo Tofu Wings
Ingredients:
12 oz. extra firm tofu
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp onion powder
¼ tsp garlic powder
½ cup Frank’s Red Hot sauce
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Wrap tofu in clean kitchen towel or cheese cloth and place a heavy pan on top for 10-15 minutes.
- Slice into chicken-wing sized portions.
- Place in a bowl and season with salt, onion powder and garlic powder.
- Place a nonstick skillet over medium heat.
- Add tofu to skillet and brown on both sides, 3-5 minutes.
- Bake in oven 15 minutes longer.
- Add to a bowl and toss with hot sauce before serving with Tofu Ranch (see below)
5. Tofu “Ranch” Dip
Ingredients:
12 oz. extra firm tofu
2 tbsp lemon juice
½ tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
2 tsp pure maple syrup
1 tsp nutritional yeast
1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
1 tbsp green onion, chopped
½ tsp salt, add more to taste
Directions:
- Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth.
- Refrigerate before serving.
