No, no, no. Scott & I aren't having a child. Well, not in the normal sense. I do have a baby chickie, though. No not a real chicken. This is not going well.
Let me back up: She calls me Mama Hen. I've been doting on Andrea for over a year now, since back when I lived in New York City. I met her on Twitter through a mutual friend. She was in college at the time and I had a need to mother something---someone---so I adopted Andrea. She is my baby chickie.
When I lived in New York, I always had her over for dinner. I may or may not have attempted to do her laundry... In her final semester of college, Andrea was able to "intern" at Happy Herbivore for credit and she toured around with me on my book tour and helped me put Everyday Happy Herbivore together. When she graduated I was happy for her, but sad for me. What would I do without my assistant?
Thankfully, the stars aligned to bring us back together.
Every day it was becoming more and more clear to me that I needed another set of hands if I wanted to reach my goals and dreams with Happy Herbivore. I saw all the potential, all these things I wanted to do, but I couldn't do it by myself. I was in the market for a virtual assistant when Andrea messaged me one afternoon to say her internship in Chicago wasn't working out.
The next thing I knew I was buying her a one-way plane ticket to the island. Andrea moved in last Sunday.
Andrea is Happy Herbivore's first official employee and I couldn't be more excited to have her on board. Good things will come.
Andrea is also fiercely camera-shy---so much that when I tried to take a picture of all our feet--this is what resulted:
Someone tried to pull their feet out of the picture midflash! ugh hem.
So welcome Andrea!
Andrea will be starting her own column here on happy herbivore soon--sharing a peek and look at what goes on at HH HQ! A little behind the scenes action if you will.
Stay tuned!
