I know a lot of you Herbies are concerned with your carbon footprint, but have you thought about your foodprint? The Green Foodprint gives advice on various ways to reduce your foodprint.
There are many things we can do to reduce our foodprint and make it greener. The most apparent is to buy food with little packaging. Obviously, if there is less packaging (or recyclable packaging) there is less of a foodprint left behind.
The Green Foodprint talks about this as well as many other ways to lower your foodprint, like eating lower, shorter and wider on the food chain. It also explains the difference between the types of grocery stores and gives great ideas about how to reduce your foodprint when eating out and even camping. They also discuss ways to reduce your foodprint at home, did you know there was such a thing as a solar oven?
This book is very detailed and easy to follow for those of you who may be new to reducing your foodprint as well as beneficial to those of you looking for more and better ways. There are many little interesting facts added in, like how the city of San Francisco collects food waste and composts it before sending it to vineyards, and other local businesses.
Leave a comment below about what you do to reduce your foodprint to win a copy of the book! I will announce the winner on Tuesday.
