Healthy! Organic! Natural! Vegan! Gluten-Free! Light! Don't Get Caught in the Buzzword Trap and How to Read Labels Posted by:Lindsay S. Nixon Category: Series Popular FAQ

One of the best lectures I ever attended was by Jeff Novick, MS, RD about deciphering food labels. Jeff kept emphasizing to read the nutritional label and never trust or believe what's written on the front of the box

Although this had been my practice for ages (I always had to scan labels to make sure something was vegan) it never occurred to me that the front of the box is purely an advertisement. That I shouldn't …

You've got questions...

Q: The last thing in my diet I really want to get rid of is chocolate. I'm on a student budget, and there is some vegan dark chocolate available in my area but it's quite expensive, so I'm still eating the regular stuff. I really want to stop eating it because I know the milk in it is detrimental to my health. I've heard eating almonds can help relieve the cravings but they taste strange to me if I eat them too much. …
